Changes I would make to the play

This play is a master peace which is very hard to critic, however I found some aspects of the play unpleasant and could possibly change. The first major change I would do is add another act, this play moves very fast and it is very chaotic, which is very fun to read however we miss out on things like character development. Nothing in the plot would change, just the play would have a sixth act allowing more time to follow up on story lines that get lost in the chaos. For example with a sixth act they could make a payoff for Banquo's son, he seems to escape the murderers in the third act and is then never mentioned again, with more time for character development we could see things like Banquo's son coming back.

Another smaller change that I would add to the play would be more on the three witches. The three witches are suppose to be very mysterious and only show up at the right time, however I still think they could use more development. This doesn't have to be within the characters themselves, I think the play could tell us more about what they believe and maybe a little on where they came from

Overall the play was magnificent however I think some changes that could help the play would be adding another act for more chances at character development and so we can learn cool facts about things like the mysterious witches.

A Scene that made me uneasy

Image result for lady macduff getting killed   Personally I thought Macbeth was a amazing play and although some of the scenes and settings may have been violent and cruel, for most of them I felt it suited the circumstances of the play and having a violent setting was what made it memorable. However, one the scenes I felt that took it over the top was the scene where Lady Macduff and her child is killed. This was the worst for me because these people did nothing to harm Macbeth yet they were still brutally killed. On top of the the play goes on to explain how the child died trying to warn his mother about the oncoming murders.

The circumstances of this scene were very grim but perhaps what made it worse for me was the setting in which it happened. They were both killed in their castle which is terrible. Imagine being raised up in the place in which you are killed, having murders breach your gates and kill you in your own castle gives the scene more of an eerie feel. This setting also tells me how brutally they were killed, these people could have been killed anywhere but Shakespeare chose their castle because it is a complete breach of someones rights and adds unease to the scene

Lady Macbeth versus Macbeth

In this play, closer to the beginning we are introduced to what seem like two evil characters. These characters are Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. These two characters are the antagonists from the start as they together planned the murder of the King of Scotland to have Macbeth be crowned himself. In the early stages however, I thought Macbeth could still be a good character and he was just being influenced by Lady Macbeth. This led me to the conclusion that Lady Macbeth might be the main antagonist and could turn around for the better. However, this completely changed as throughout the book Lady Macbeth feels more and more guilty leading her to commit suicide while Macbeth stands by his decision and fights to keep it no matter the cost. This is the major difference between the two characters, both are evil, however Lady Macbeth isn't as evil and feels bad about what she did. Macbeth on the other hand doesn't regret his decision making him the greater evil and putting these two characters apart.

Destiny

Destiny was a large role in the play Macbeth, Destiny or Fate, caused Macbeth do to many of the things he did. For example: If the three witches had not said anything about Macbeth becoming King of Scotland he most likely wouldn't have plotted to kill the King. Although it is still possible he could have plotted to kill the King it would be far less likely if he didn't think it was his destiny. The idea of destiny then took over the play as it took over Macbeth, the witches showed Macbeth things that he was already afraid of causing him to make rash decisions which change the course of the play. For example when the three witches tell Macbeth that Banquo's bloodline will eventually take Macbeth's place on the throne, Macbeth tries to have Banquo and his son killed. This then starts the war with Macduff because he is already suspicious of Macbeth for killing the King but this sets him over the top.

Destiny also plays a role in the readers mind, the three witches give him circumstances that seem impossible; For example when they said "because nobody born from a woman will ever harm Macbeth." this makes people believe he cannot be killed, yet he is killed when he finds out Macduff was cut out from a women and not born the regular way. All these prophecies make the readers think how different things will play out which makes the play very interesting to read.

My Experience Reading Macbeth

My Experience Reading Macbeth

Many of my English teachers have told me about how great Macbeth was, but we never seemed to get to it. Part of the reason for this was, it was in the grade 12 curriculum but the teachers never stopped raving about this play. When I first read it I could see why, the play is very interesting and is probably the best play I have read, I am not usually one to like many plays for I find it hard to understand the language and to me many are boring for lack of action. I know there are many amazing plays that don't include action like a battle but for some reason I always expect it which is why I didn't enjoy plays like Romeo and Juliet as much. The balance of action and plot was perfect in my opinion as I was captivated by what was happening in the play at all times. The three witches with their predictions of characters fate always got me thinking about the words and how what seemed to be impossible would come to be. Overall my experience reading Macbeth was terrific and really connected with me which could be a start in me taking more interest in plays.
